  • Philosophy

As parents and faculty we have the unique opportunity to bear witness to the socialization and educational growth of young minds as they experience school for the very first time. We believe that understanding each child's uniqueness is key to creating an atmosphere that nourishes individuality while creating respect for community.

Saint Francis Cathedral Preschool offers experientially based learning experiences through cooperative and varied activities, which encourage students to grow educationally, socially, and spiritually.

    Cultivating a Caring Community

We invite and encourage parents/ guardians to become active participants in their child s educational experience. Our preschool program offers both day and evening activities to accommodate and include working parents.

Parents will also receive monthly communications regarding curriculum through calendars and newsletters.

    Admission

Admission into the preschool three-year-old and four year old programs is dependent on candidates meeting and providing documentation of the following criteria:

    · All candidates must be of the appropriate age (3-4 yrs of age) by October 1st of the year he/ she will enter school.

    · All applicants must comply with the immunizations as set forth by the State of New Jersey.

    · All children accepted into the program must be toilet trained. Children using Pull-Ups will not be admitted into  the program.

    Registration

A non- refundable registration fee and one month's tuition payment must accompany the application. The advanced tuition will only be refunded in the event of a withdrawal from the program. Tuition payments are due on the first of each month.

Pre-Kindergarten registration dates are announced during the year. Please call our offices if you need application forms or information. The forms are also on-line at Registration Forms.

    Curriculum

Our school curriculum is in compliance with the mandate from the Diocese of Metuchen Office of Schools.

    Assessment

The curriculum is assessed by the early childhood staff and recorded to measure student progress. Evaluations will be held twice during the school year in a conference setting. During this feedback session, parents and guardians will be furnished with a progress report and child portfolio illustrating the advancement and areas for improvement for their child. Additional conferences may be requested if desired.
